Locks For Love
I fell in love with practically everything about him
His laugh, his smile, his smell, his sparkling blue eyes…
Even the way he said “good morning”
But mostly I fell in love with his hair
His beautiful blonde hair that flowed like a rhythmic stream
His hair was delightful
Delicate, dazzling, dashing
Daring
Little by little though, day by day, his immaculate flow became less and less delightful
Less and less delicate, dazzling, dashing
But more and more daring
He lost it all because of the chemo on August 14th
And I lost him on September 2nd
I’ll never forget his laugh, or smile, or smell, or his sparkling blue eyes…
I’ll never forget the way he said “good morning”
But most importantly,
I’ll never forget his beautiful blonde hair
The hair that I noticed on that very first day when I saw him from a distance in that tennessee moonlight
The hair I played with on our very first date on the car ride home after we ate at that adorable pizzeria in god knows where
The hair I grabbed onto when hugging him for dear life the day he told me about his cancer
The hair that disappeared faster than the cheetah's prey when finally caught
The hair that’s gone now
He’s gone now
I’m still in love with everything
And I miss him every day
I’d give it all up for one more moment
He’s watching me now; I think
I donated my hair to ‘Locks for Love” last week
Maybe I can give another boy beautiful blonde hair that flows like a rhythmic stream
Maybe that boy will beat it
I wish my boy beat it
His laugh, his smile, his smell, his sparkling blue eyes…
Even the way he said “good morning”
But mostly I fell in love with his hair
